Every 4 years is an exciting time. It’s a time when all the nations of the world come together to compete on a grand scale in the Summer Olympics.
Even in spite of the huge NBC Fail, where they said they wouldn’t have any spoilers but live tweeted stuff and edited out important parts of the Opening Ceremony, the Olympics are exciting this year.
Athletes, first time Olympians and veteran Olympians, are making memories that will possibly never be topped. Parents are proud that the fortunes they spent getting so-and-so lessons for Little Jimmy finally paid off.
Today’s (optional) prompt: If you could compete in any Olympic sport or participate in the Games in any way, what would you want to do? Did you ever have Olympic goals personally?
Oh, the Olympics. How I love thee…
I’ve always thought that being a synchronized diver would be awesome. I can’t even imagine how in sync the two divers have to be. I mean, it’s one thing to dance in sync, but to jump off a board and fly through the air, flipping and twisting ALL AT THE SAME TIME? That would be awesome.
To me, they are the epitome of teamwork. There are two of them, one dive, and one chance to get it right.
But I’m pretty sure I would fall off the board when I would have to stand backwards on my tippy toes.
HOW DO THEY DO THAT???

I love the Olympics – especially the water sports and gymnastics. I’d love to be a gymnast – soaring through the air, doing breath-taking flips and twirls – but, alas, I have absolutely no balance or coordination

I heard I missed something really cool with the synchronized swimming. I am going to have to see if I can find a recap on the internet. As for the tippy toes on a diving board – “Wow!” IF I were brave enough to jump off a diving board, I’d just be scooting my butt up to the edge and jumping in feet first.
I can’t synchronize anything! Sometimes getting both my hands to work in harmony is a challenge LOL I am a basketball fan. It has been so exciting to watch the USA men’s and women’s teams. Go USA.

I’m obsessed with the Olympics and have watched everything. Love the summer ones especially, volleyball, track, gymnastics. I am amazed by those divers. How about the Mexican teams that spin 4 times completely in sync? I am always sad when they are over.

I think that some of the events are not really Olympic-type events, but they are still exciting to watch anyway. Most of the events I am enjoying this time around are the more “obscure” sports. I missed trampoline, but am hoping to catch it when it comes on again because that is just super impressive. I watched badminton and thought it was way more action packed and fast pace than tennis. Same with table tennis.
Loving the Games!
