Hey y’all! Whew. Made it through the first week of school for the kid and the first week of full time work for me. It’s gone well. Very well actually. I think I’m gonna like it a lot!
It’s taking me a little longer to make it through all the posts but I’m getting there! So glad y’all are joining in. Hope you’ll continue (and tell your friends).
I’ve been dreaming about writing lately. So that brings up a prompt about (shocking) dreams! What do you dream about? Do you have a life dream? Do you have recurring dreams during sleep?
Today’s (optional) prompt: Dreams
Dreams are confusing to me. I just don’t understand where they come from. Especially recurring dreams.
How does my mind know that because I’m stressed I need to dream about the same thing over and over again? HOW DOES IT KNOW????
When I’m stressed, I have the same dream (and I’m sure lots of you do, too) about walking around naked in a parking deck. All the cars are the same. They all have Georgia tags and no identifying stickers. They’re all blue. Floors and floors of blue cars that all look just like mine. The floors aren’t numbered and there are no row numbers.
I’m naked. People are looking at me. They’re staring. I’m crying and confused and lost. I’m just LOST.
I know what the dream means. It means I’m searching. I’m stressed and searching for whatever that “thing” is. In my dream, it’s my car. In real life, it’s whatever’s next. It’s whatever’s lost inside of me. It’s whatever I need to find that will fix whatever’s wrong.
I have other dreams that are recurring. They’re all equally as disturbing but I know they’re not unusual. I’m not scared of them. At this point, they’re a marker that helps me know when it’s time to move forward, searching for that car in the sea of cars that are all the same.
Time’s up…

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…
- Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
- Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
- Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
- Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post (in the sidebar). .
- Link up your post below.
- Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.

This is a great prompt. I could have written about it for hours (but I kept to the five minute rule – even though it was hard).
When I’m stressed, the reoccurring thing that seems to happen in my dreams is that I start losing my teeth. It is nice that you can assess your reoccurring dreams as a marker that you need to assess where you might need to move forward or make a change.
Super happy to hear you and the kid had a good first week at school and work.

I could have kept going. OH I HAVE THE LOSING TEETH DREAM TOO. It scares me.
The losing teeth dream is the worst!! It is kind of interesting to see how many people commented and noted that they have had it as well. We should all go in together for some sort of teeth-losing-dream-analysis or something.

Anxiety dreams are some of the most common types of dreams. They’re thought to be the brain’s way of trying to deal with future anxieties in advance so that when you’re actually in the situation, you’re a little less anxious. (Says the psychology major.)
They’re not very much fun, though. It’s more fun to dream about unicorns.

I’m going to come to CA and whoop your ass for that.
It’s funny. I’ve never had the naked in public dream — from what I can remember anyway. I do have reoccurring ones. One of mine is my teeth falling out. Think that is insecurities. Imagine that. Glad you made it through week one. I bit jealous — you heading out into the real world every day.

Is it wrong to say that I find that dream of yours totally fascinating? It’s just so specific. And I mentioned in my post today that dream interpretation is my special power although you sound like you have it figured out.

It’s totally fascinating. And EXHAUSTING.
I’ve had the teeth dream, too. I actually wake with pain in my mouth. Ow.
I sort of took a different approach and went over the time limit because I had too many distractions. I know you’ll be cool with that because you’re just cool. In general.
Happy dreaming, everyone!

Totally cool! Also, when I have the teeth dream, I wake up having clinched my jaw all night. YIKES!
Mine was always about a deep horn-of-plenty shaped hole & I kept running around and around, deeper & deeper, but I didn’t know where I was going…just getting further & further away in a great deep, dark hole! I haven’t had the dream in years though………..maybe I’ve out-aged my dream ! HA…………
For me dreaming of teeth involve is not good…I don’t really like having a bad dream..

My recurring dreams either involve me being in school and not knowing my class schedule or being unable to open my locker or being late to something at school. Or something about traveling by plane — being late to the airport, not having my passport, or the ever pleasant plane crash (usually, I’m watching from a safe distance as the planes crash. Though once I was on the plane as it crashed in my dream.).
