Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Random Free Writing

We’re going back to basics today. I want you to just write. No topic. Just dump all the contents in your brain out.

I don’t know about y’all, but I need that. I probably need it for longer than 5 minutes, but it’ll have to do!

Your five minutes starts now.

stream of consciousness sunday

I’m supposed to dump my brain. Where do I start? It’s so loud in here I can’t think straight. The dog is yapping. The kid’s on the computer playing a loud game. Football is on. The dishwasher is running.

Why can’t things be silent sometimes? I’m going to make a point to go outside at work early in the mornings if it’s not too busy for a few minutes. It’s always calm and cool before the customers start coming in. But then it gets loud.

We’re going to a baseball game tomorrow. I’m not excited about it really. I don’t care for baseball so I may take my iPad and try to write. Or I’ll just tweet dumbass things about how much I hate baseball.

Henry’s trying to eat a little piece of french bread that’s harder than a rock. I’m afraid he’s about to pull all his non-loose teeth out. What’s the dog doing? What the hell? She’s like a tiny little thing on speed. Now the kid’s talking to me. Will you watch me? Will you watch me? Watch me.

I’m watching adn typing at the same time. He’s tap dancing. It’s absolutely hilarious. He’s proud of himself.

I think I’m going to go to bed when I finish this. It’s 8:09 when I’m writing this but it’s later than that somewhere else, right? Eh, whatever. I’ll just be old.

Is my 5 minutes ever going to be up?

Oh, it’s up now. Later.

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post (in the sidebar). .
  • Link up your post below.
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.

Project: UnderBlog

I’m so very excited to be involved with a new project that’s launching the beginning of October. My friend Neena asked me to be a core blogger for her new site and I’m beyond honored! I know I’ve neglected this site since I started back to work, but I’m in a groove now and have plans to keep up with my writing. This is going to force me to do that!

What is this cool project, you ask? I’ll let Neena tell you in her words:

Project: UnderBlog is a submission-based collaborative writing project honoring the smaller voices in the blogging community. With a foundation of 5-10 core bloggers to publish, promote, and engage on a monthly basis, this is ultimately a place where the majority of the content comes from submissions. Anyone can submit and share their voices and stories without consideration of their blog stats, followers, page ranks, and social media reach.

See, it isn’t all about the numbers.

There are thousands of writers within the blogging community that write with authenticity on a daily basis and, because they may not possess the numbers most writing communities want, they may not feel they are being heard. But that doesn’t diminish the value of what they have to say.

Project UnderBlog is a place where bloggers are accepted based on the power of their words and not on the reach of their numbers – where they can be heard, promoted, and celebrated no matter their size. It is about celebrating the fierceness of the “underblog.”

With that in mind we would love to have you consider submitting a blog post to our project. Your words, your passion, and your voice will be celebrated and promoted across an audience that doesn’t worry about numbers! If you’re interested in adding a submission please let us know! You’ll have freedom to write whatever moves you (no assigned topics or themes – just powerful words!) If nothing else I’d love for you to follow on Twitter and like us on Facebook so we can work to build an amazing audience! Thanks for supporting this project!!!

Fourteen years. I can’t believe it’s been that long since I stood in the fresh-laid St. Augustine grass outside The King and Prince Resort in St. Simons Island, GA and said “I do” to my very best friend.

With the wind in my hair and the sun on my back, I promised to love, honor and cherish until death do us part.

We’ve been through a lot. A lot that would take down a marriage. But we’ve survived.

At this point, I think we’re both planning to stick around just to see how crochety and ornery we can get with each other. You know, like my grandparents!

I love you, Jason… here’s to another few decades together!

Friends From Cradle To Grave

Friends From Cradle To Grave

Forever Friends.

Friends Forever.

I would venture to say not a whole lot of people can say they have been friends – true friends – with a group of girls since they were born. I’m so blessed to be able to say that I have.

From little girls.

Our friend’s first birthday party, 1976.

To grown up girls.

September 2012

Through thick and thin.

Through love and loss.

Through boyfriends and church bus trips and high school and college.

Through wedding showers and baby showers.

Through births and deaths.

We are seven strong women, all perfect in our own ways.

This past weekend we gathered for our annual (why isn’t it more often than that?) girl’s weekend filled with food, drink, gossip and cupcakes. Those are in no particular order!

My oldest friend in the world did a much better job capturing our weekend and our love for each other. If you want to read about friendships that have spanned almost 4 decades, read her words.

Until (hopefully not that long) next year, girls… I love you more than my luggage! We’re gonna be so badass at 40!

And Loretta Makes Four

And Loretta Makes Four

Let’s give a big Jana’s Thinking Place welcome to Miss Loretta.

To answer all the questions:

She’s a Brittany. She’s 12 weeks old. She’s absolutely adorable.

Also, I shouldn’t be allowed to go to PetSmart. Loretta is fully accessorized with Martha Stewart and Bret Michaels for PetSmart goods.
