Beauty-Filled Wordless(ish) Wednesday

I went in to the office today to take some pictures. I was struck by how bright the blooming plants were in contrast to the dreary, gray day we’re having here in Atlanta.

Enjoy!

Kinda Wordless Wednesday: Grandparents Were Young, Too

It’s wordless, yes, but I have to say SOMETHING about it.

This picture is of my grandparents and my great uncle in 1947. They opened their jewelry store in Fort Valley in 1945. This picture was taken two years later.

My grandmother, Mimi, was my age in this picture. 36. She’s also very likely pregnant with my dad in this picture.

While I feel really old some days, this picture reminds me that it’s all relative. I never thought of my grandparents as being “my age” you know? But here they are.

Wordless(ish) Wednesday: Bikes

Henry rides his bike to school now.

He looks so big on it in our driveway, yet so very small when he’s in a pack of bikes coming home with 4th and 5th graders. (and yes, it’s time for a new bike)

The hardest part of raising a child is teaching them to ride bicycles.
A shaky child on a bicycle for the first time needs both support and freedom.
The realization that this is what the child will always need can hit hard.

Wordless Wednesday: Back To School

This was my boy last year on the first day of kindergarten.

This? Was on Monday. Henry’s first day of first grade.

The difference is amazing. Amazingly sad and exciting and heartbreaking and thrilling! My baby isn’t a baby anymore.

Just look at this young man.

Wordless Wednesday: CARS 2 FEVER!

I’m just lazy. Well, not lazy. My sister and her 3 kids have been in our apartment for 3 days now. It was small before. Now it’s even smaller. She and the older 2 have been at a conference and the 2 year old has been with me and the kiddo during the day.

Sunday when they came in, they passed Perimeter Mall and saw ZOMG CARS 2 CARS! and had to stop. They called and Jason took Henry over. Thanks to State Farm (who we have our insurance through) for letting us download pictures without paying an arm and a freaking leg for them.

Look out June 24th. We’ll be stalking the release of the movie!
